Hello, I'm Ebb.
Daughter of the Drift began long before it had a name.
I spent much of my childhood on Moreton Island, collecting shells, wandering beaches and turning driftwood, seed pods and whatever else I could find into little handmade creations. I've always been fascinated by the stories hidden inside ordinary things and the idea that a small discovery could spark a much bigger adventure.
Seven and a half years ago, I moved to Far North Queensland, where the coastline became familiar in a different way. The shells changed, the tides changed and the landscapes changed, but the curiosity remained the same.
Over time, those childhood collections found their way into sketchbooks. Sketching became illustrating. Illustrating became painting. Somewhere along the way, all of those interests came together under the name Daughter of the Drift.
Today, this space is where I document the things I find, make and wonder about. A place for artwork, coastal curiosities, beach finds, field notes and the occasional rabbit hole. Part creative journal, part sketchbook and part collection of things gathered along the coastline.
I still get the same excitement I did as a child when I spot an unusual shell washed up on the sand or discover something I've never noticed before. The only difference now is that those discoveries often find their way into paintings, prints, stories and new projects.
What I love most is that every discovery tends to lead to another question, another story or another creative idea.
That's really what Daughter of the Drift is about.
Slowing down. Paying attention. Staying curious. Looking a little closer.
I'm glad you're here.
