Welcome to Daughter of the Drift

Daughter of the Drift began long before it had a name…

I grew up spending much of my childhood on Moreton Island. Most days were spent barefoot, wandering beaches, collecting shells, dragging home pieces of driftwood and filling pockets with things I found interesting. I don't think I realised it at the time, but I was already doing what I still do today.

Looking closely…Following curiosity…Collecting stories disguised as objects.

Years later, I moved to Far North Queensland, where the coastline became different but the habit remained the same. New shells. New beaches. New discoveries waiting to be noticed.

Some people keep journals. I seem to collect and log things.

A shell with an unusual pattern. A weathered piece of coral. A seed pod washed ashore after a storm. A question that sends me down an unexpected rabbit hole. Over time, those collections began finding their way into sketchbooks, paintings, photographs and creative projects. What started as a personal fascination slowly grew into something bigger.

Daughter of the Drift is a home for all of it.

Part creative journal, part field notes and part collection, it's a place to share the things I find, make and wonder about along the coastline. You'll find artwork in progress, coastal discoveries, stories from beach walks, creative experiments and the occasional deep dive into whatever has captured my attention that week.

Mostly, though, you'll find evidence that curiosity is worth following.

I'm glad you're here.
